GRI is calling on all stakeholders in North America to participate in a crucial initiative: revising and strengthening its Labor Topic Standards. In particular, we are seeking feedback on redrafted versions of the following:

  • GRI 402: Labor/Management Relations
  • GRI 401: Employment
  • GRI 202: Market Presence

These Standards guide companies on how to transparently report their impacts on workers while prioritizing their well-being, a critical aspect of responsible business practices.

Human Rights at the Core:

Building on the success of the Topic Standards Project for Human Rights, GRI is taking a human rights-based approach to the Labor Standards revision. This ensures companies are held accountable for their impact on workers' rights and well-being.

Your Voice Matters:

The first phase of the revision focuses on "Employment practices and conditions." Here's how you can get involved:

  • Review the exposure drafts: they propose the updated guidelines for worker remuneration, working time, and significant changes in the workplace. You can find them on the GRI website. GRI Website - Exposure Drafts.
  • Provide feedback: your insights are valuable! The exposure drafts for the first phase are made available for public comment between 10th June to 4th October 2024. Share your thoughts through online surveys.
  • Attend a free webinar: join a live Q&A session on June 20th or 25th to learn more and ask questions. Register for the webinar below.

Why This Matters:

Transparency in labor practices is essential for building trust and ensuring a sustainable future. By participating, you can help shape how companies report on critical issues like fair wages, safe working conditions, and worker rights.
