We believe that our service should support the growth of sustainable and responsible investment by offering a straightforward way to access comprehensive, quality sustainable finance information. And, through relationships with major non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations, we are collaborating to increase the disclosure of material sustainability related information, to improve the quality of that information and support the utilization of that information by developing value added analytical tools.

Bloomberg Terminal subscribers can now access the Carbon Tracker Initiative’s research that provides investors in the energy sector and commodities markets, or those with a focus on sustainable investments, insight into oil and gas companies’ upstream portfolios. The tool provides forward-looking quantitative indicators based on project-level data provided by Rystad Energy, an independent source of business intelligence data about the oil and gas industry, alongside Bloomberg market data.

Why It's Time to Align Retirement Funds With Sustainability Goals
In 2017, Bloomberg announced that it was the first U.S. domiciled company to become a U.N. PRI signatory as a corporate pension plan sponsor (it was a signatory since 2009 as a service provider). It took about four to five years to get key decision-makers comfortable including an ESG-themed fund in the lineup, said Lee Ballin, head of sustainable business at Bloomberg, an effort led by the Global Benefits Team to align the investment and retirement committee; senior business leaders; legal counsel; the professional development team and investor and retirement consultants.

Bloomberg Becomes First U.S.-Domiciled Corporate Retirement Plan Sponsor to Sign the PRI
Bloomberg today announced at the Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit that it has become the first U.S.-domiciled corporate retirement plan sponsor (ERISA plan sponsor) to join the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). By joining, Bloomberg will incorporate the six, voluntary Principles for Responsible Investment into its investment practices. The principles align closely with Bloomberg’s commitment as a financial data provider to integrate sustainable business and finance considerations into its operations, products and services.

Bloomberg Financial Services Gender-Equality Index Reveals Global Progress
Bloomberg today announced the 2017 Financial Services Gender-Equality Index (BFGEI), providing investors and organizations with unique insight into the statistics, policies, product offerings and external engagement driving 52 firms’ commitment to building gender-equal workplaces. Bloomberg also introduced a Fixed Income Gender-Equality Index, representing investment grade debt issued by the 2017 BFGEI member firms.
